As part of the Sapere Aude Project, all project partners (except University of Girona), must set up and implement a mentoring pilot project within their organizations with a duration of a school year (September 2017-May 2018).

All project partners have previously agreed on a mentoring model and mentoring procedures in order to set a common basis for implementing a mentoring pilot within their organizations that specifically focuses on improving school results of youngsters in residential care.

Setting up and implementing a mentoring pilots involves among others the following activities:

  • Initiatives to search volunteers to be mentors
  • Interview processes to select mentors
  • Initiatives to search and select mentees
  • Involvement of caregivers of mentees in the mentoring pilot
  • Involvement of teachers of mentees in the mentoring pilot
  • Procedures to match mentors with mentees
  • Monitoring of the mentoring pilots
  • Evaluation of the mentoring pilots

The mentoring pilots are currently taking place within the different organizations!!

Even though a common basis for implementing a mentoring pilot within the partner organizations has been agreed, each partner organization implements it in practice in each own way, because the mentoring pilots are dynamic process involving a wide arrange of actors.
